basically, in the middle of the ocean roughly beside hawaii, there is a floating landfill made up of our garbage, creating what is called plastic soup: miles and miles of floating garbage mixed with ocean. it is made up of millions of pieces of plastic from bottles, bags, packaging, and other household garbage, from you and me. these plastics travel through the ocean and converge in this area, swirling around and around, killing animals and life forms, and adding the chemical bisphenol A to the oceans. this chemical is responsible for so many things i don't even want to list them for fear that people will stop reading out of boredom. watch the 'extra' section in the documentary for a full list.
I'm going to quit plastic. I truly believe that if we stop buying it, they will stop making it. I hope to show the world that it is possible to live without this senseless waste.
